One of our beloved QDR members has decided to take a well-earned early retirement and will be closing their shop by mid-September. Décor Inc. came to Royalmount Ave at the end of the last decade, but has been in business since 1949. The president, Robert Martin, still has a framed letter from our former mayor, Mrs. Danyluk, welcoming their business to the Town of Mount-Royal.
Over the years, Décor Inc. has become a landmark in the industrial park, closely surrounded by other fine quality furniture stores. Mr. Martin remembers how thrilled everyone was when Otago opened their café nearby. Not only could the merchants enjoy fine food, but now their customers could also linger longer in the neighbourhood. The restaurant helped to make the area a more serviceable destination.
With the doors closing soon, all items at Décor Inc., even the new arrivals, are now on sale at 40-80% the original price, and must be sold before the lease ends. As Mr. Martin put it so eloquently, “we’d like to walk out with only a roll of toilet paper!”
Passionate about his business, we’d like to share how Mr. Martin describes some of his favourite items in the store:
Décor Inc. is now open every day and offers extended hours. Come by the boutique to see the specials, and while you’re at it, wish Mr. Martin a happy retirement and bon voyage. First on the agenda for Mr. Martin and his wife after closing shop is a trip to India, and it won’t be to buy furniture!
